Indiana = party time

Reasons why I love Indiana.

ONE: We had our last reception here. It was SO much fun. This picture is from the night before we got married. My aunt got us this painting and it was the first wedding present we opened up! I can't beleive that we've had three receptions since this night, and so many GREAT gifts to open up (THANKS EVERYONE!!!!)

TWO: Our reception was outside. And they had a HAMMOCK! I love hammocks. I decided that I could live in one. Who needs a couch when you can have a hammock!?

THREE: My sister graduated today! Here we are waiting for her in the auditorium. She's a heartbreaker. (And apperantly clapping for the graduates isn't allowed, ask Kaylea and the mean guy in front of us.)

FOUR: My sister's high school has bigpipers. How sweet is that? They played Amazing Grace. Just one bagpiper first and then another one joined in with a harmony. BEAUTIFUL.

Weekend in Phoenix

I do like AZ. The weather has been beautiful and sunny (except for Friday, the day we swam, but that's irrelevant) and even though I know for a fact that I got a slight sunburn just from running errands for a couple of hours, I've really had some fun.

On Friday we got in, went to a Rotary function and Ryan got an awesome award from his grandfather's service in the Rotary club. My parents came and we all got sweet name tags, very official-looking too, that said we were guests of Ken Mangum. Classy.

After that we all went back to the hotel and made some last-minute wedding reception phone calls. There were table cloths that needed to be ordered and the DJ needed a final call too.

Then it was time to head over to the Dille's to hang out with the kids and for my parent's to meet Ken's (JK's to my sisters...) sister and two daughters. We also had Cafe Rio salads made from scratch, and they were A MA ZING. We also swam, and the weather wasn't that great, but we played some games and moved around so we weren't as cold. Man, I just love the summertime and playing random games in the pool. I even taught Hayden, Jackson, and Mara a new game, so it was pretty fun. You're not supposed to want to be it, but they all did anyway, which makes for some fun times. Categories. Who knew it could be fun after elementary school?!

Saturday ended up great, but it was a super-long day. Word to the wise: plan everything out so you don't have to plan ANYTHING the day of the wedding/reception. I got a little sun-burnt/overheated from running around in the morning, then spent the afternoon tying knots from gift-boxes (they ended up being a great addition to the reception), and attempting to wrap the bouquet for me to hold. I do love flowers, but I don't know if I'm the best person to be in charge of that.

Overall the reception went great and quite a few people came. I took my heels off after about an hour--I lasted for that long, I was pretty proud of myself! We also had a "first dance"and a "daddy-daughter dance" too. I about cried when the guy played "When you say nothing at all".

So all in all, the weekend was great! Pictures to come! Today I got sick (I blame the reception food; Ken was sick too and I think Ryan's cousins...uh oh) so today wasn't as great, but we opened up all the cards and presents--LIKE CHRISTMAS!

peace and love, em.

Our First Date

Of married life!

We went to Color Me Mine and painted a fruit bowl. Our last experience there didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. I had Ry keep it in his apt... This time was MUCH better. Who knew our artistic talent had improved so much! I think we're pretty satisfied with this bowl and now that we have a little hope in us, we're excited to go back to add other items to our apartment!

The cutest newlyweds you've ever seen...:

Before:
After:

Don't mind the dishes in the background. But do mind the BEAUTIFUL flowers that Ryan's friend, Grant, gave to me for letting him crash at our apartment for a few days. Too bad we never took a good picture of him with our camera...although there are quite a few inappropriate pictures he took of himself during the visit..we just won't go there.

One reception down

And two to go. The next reception is this weekend in Phoenix, where Ryan is from. But I figured that people would first like to see how the wedding/honeymoon went the first time around before I updated with the second so here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

We got married in the Mt. Timpanogos temple here in Utah, and then went to San Diego for a week. In no particular order, here's how we spend that week:

Mr. and Mrs. Mangum

Friends and family that came

Oh, there's a camera over there? Who knew?

SAN DIEGO HERE WE COME!

We LOOOOOVE Disneyland!

And you have to go on the teacups, right? I'm pretty sure I made Ryan a little sick on this one. I may or may not have pretty fast turning skills...

Our footprints on Mission Beach. Not swimming weather, but definitely beach-walking weather.

San Diego's Little Italy--mmm I'm addicted now.

A San Diego Padres game. And we won! It almost went into extra innings, but due to our tremendous good luck, we helped the Padres score some extra runs.
So that's pretty much it. We also went to Coronodo Island and went on a sweet bike ride on a tandem-like bike (it had a roof to protect us from the sun!), and went to a nice resort hotel in Las Vegas on the way back to get some sweet tans and bask in the hot hot heat.
Keep checking in, and I'll try to keep everyone updated with our life since the honeymoon ended and real life has begun. So far it hasn't been too hard, just keeping up with a bunch of paperwork to be done. I did get my name changed however. Emily Dalby Mangum. Love it.
Feel free to comment, give me your blog address, or just follow along on our rad lives together. Can I even begin to say how much I love married life? I can't. It's just that amazing.

I'M MARRIED!

Here's a little update on my life today. Don't worry, the next post will contain plenty of pictures of the wedding, honeymoon, and thoughts from the two of us (Ryan will post on this thing too, for your reading pleasure).

1. Married life is so far BOMB. It's amazing. And I already feel like an old couple because all I want to do is go to bed at 10:30.
2. I made roast by myself yesterday and it turned out pretty good. I need to tweak it a bit, but I'm so excited to make it again.
3. Ryan's making dinner tonight. Can I tell you just HOW much pasta we now have in our pantry? We can live off Italian food for years now. Gotta love those Italian missionaries...
4. I love Monday crosswords. I can almost do them all, so I feel especially intelligent.
5. I came back to work and I have a new nameplate now. Emily Mangum. Sweet right? I'm still not legally Emily Mangum, but I'm slowly adjusting to the name.
6. Not quite adjusting however, is Ryan's ring. He plays with that thing like no other! I think it's pretty cute though, and he likes it, so I'm a fan.
7. Have I mentioned how in love I am with this kid? I know y'all think I'm crazy, but I'm not, I promise. I mean, have you seen him? What. A. Stud.
