Update #3

I almost forgot! On Thursday Ryan and I hiked the Y! Neither of us had hiked it before, and we figured we might as well enjoy the hike since it's warm outside. We loved it! It was steep (as Ryan's picture shows), but we still loved it. We went in the morning, and it was beautiful and cool outside. We got to the top, we were all by ourselves and it was so nice to just sit and talk by the Y and look at the whole city of Provo. By the time we came down the sun was on our backs, it was so nice. We're not huge hikers, but I think after hiking up the Y, we could definitely hike more. It makes me just want to be outside all the time. Too bad it's the end of summer already!

Staycation update #2

Ryan went to Hobble Creek yesterday to golf with his old roommates Chris and Dan, and then we went to a musical later that night. It was at Sundance and I just LOVE that theater. It's an open theater in the middle of the mountains: amazing. I highly recommend going to see a play or musical there. The play was the Fantastiks. Ryan got two free tickets at work, so we ate dinner, got set up, watch the first act, and then decided during intermission to go back, get an ice cream cone at Macey's and have a calm rest of the night. We definitely beat the traffic and it was nice to get to bed a little earlier. I LOVE the weekend!

Staycation Update #1

Sorry we've been a little behind on our posts. We're just havin so much fun! For your entertainment, here's a little video Ryan took while we were at the fair last weekend. It really shows off my talents...

Staycation Day #4

I know, I forgot to post about day 3, but Ryan needs to make a video for that one, so we'll try to make that tonight.

Last night, for FHE, we went to the driving range. I've golfed once in my life, on a "date" when I was 16, I think. Maybe 15. Either way, it was a long time ago and I still don't know what I'm doing. But to make myself feel like I know what I'm doing, I made this look after I hit any ball (and I hit quite a few, don't yo worry) and said to myself "PAR!" That's what the professionals do, right?

This guy, on the other hand, totally knows what he's doing. He hasn't gone to the driving range nearly as much as he'd like to lately, and I'm sure he'd prefer to golf with someone who actually knows more about golf than me, but we're our own little cheerleaders. He cheers me on when I actually hit a ball straight and I cheer him on every time since all his balls go into thin air and I can almost never tell where they land.
Hurray for golfing! Aren't we just the cutest little golfing couple you've ever seen?

And now, for your entertainment, here's a LOVELY video of my sweet golf shot. It's sideways, but you get the idea:

Oh, and we found out that Rock Canyon Park plays movies on Monday nights in August. We went after golfing to check it out. They played "Arsenic and Old Lace" with Cary Grant. We only watched on hour, since we didn't bring a blanket and it was getting chilly, but it had some pretty hilarious lines. We may just rent it sometime soon so we can watch the ending.

Official Staycation Days #1 and #2

#1 (sorry, we didn't take any pictures): On Friday I worked until 5, and we WERE going to go to a play that Ryan got free tickets to, but it looked like rain. So instead we went to Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond and spent a little gift card money and bought a new tv stand... (HURRAY! Our other one was $20 and leaned. It was going to give out anyday, I just knew it) and then bought Macey's ice soft serve--we had a coupon for a free small ice cream cone and a coupon for the same thing for only .25 cents. We closed out the night with a little Seinfeld, since Ryan's dad lent us his dvds of all the seasons. It seems like almost every day I'll mention something and Ryan will say "There's a Seinfeld episode about that." So maybe one day I'll actually know what he's talking about.

#2: We were going to go to the Utah County 2nd Annual Demolition Derby, but the tickets were sold out. So instead we enjoyed ourselves at the Fair. This included:

...a photoshoot of Ryan

...a trip on the space trooper

...an ALMOST trip on the Zipper...but SOMEone got a little nervous (it wasn't me)

...a ride on this sweet baby

... and a new pet! Meet Enrique.

we won Enrique from throwing some darts at baloons (that's right, I threw a dart and popped a balloon!)

oh and we got some chikfila that afternoon (thanks Kaylea for those coupons!)

Hurray for Staycations!

STAYCATION!

Ryan and I are finally out for the summer. Two whole weeks of it. But we're pretty pumped. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but don't you worry. There will be plenty to come for the next bit. All I have to do is read and go to work. No school. Ahhh so nice.

NEWSFLASH: Ryan got into the Washington Seminar program here at BYU and we're going to DC next summer! I'm sooooo excited. I'll graduate and then two days later we hit the road, or air, to DC! If anyone would like to visit us during that time (May-Aug) they DEFINITELY should.

In honor of his amazing achievement. Here's another acheivment of his, when we went to Disneyland earlier this summer:
He ended up becoming a "space scout" when we went on the ride next time. He was pretty excited. If anyone hasn't been to Disneyland in a while, I HIGHLY suggest the Buzz Lightyear ride. You just dit in a slow moving thing and it can turn in circles and for about 10 minutes you get to shoot at little targets on the wall as you move and fight Emperor Zurg and help all those alien looking things. It's the best competition there is in Disneyland. And if anyone needs to fight Zurg anytime soon, hit up Ryan. He's pretty good with a lazer gun.

In other news, I miss these kids. And I get to see them so soon! HURRAY!

Stay tuned for our adventures in the greater Provo area :)

Typical Me

Since it's still not quite the weekend, I thought I'd give all of my faithful readers a good story, and good visual to tie y'all over.

Yesterday was laundry day. Or laundry have-to-do day, since commando-styling it was outta the question (get my drift...). Anyway, I go into the laundry mat, put all of my clothes in (that's right, I jammed all my colors in 1 load and whites in another--I'm thrifty!) and then realize that I really wanted to wash the khaki shorts that I had on, since I had gotten a pen mark on them a few days earlier. I really didn't want to go all the way back to my apartment to change shorts, and lucky me, I found a pair of black soccer shorts in one of the washers. So...while looking back and forth between the not one but TWO openings to the laundry mat, and praying that no one would walk by or come in--especially not anyone I knew...I quickly changed my shorts and put on the black ones. This may have been one of the more daring moves that I have ever attempted in my life. But...

Success.
